Greenhatch Group are one of the UK’s largest employers within the UK, that concentrates solely on Geospatial surveys. We recognise that in order for us to maintain our high standards, and a positive reputation, we have to develop and encourage the next tranche of skilled surveyors.
Through the University of Derby we have created a bespoke Apprenticeship scheme which consists of academic studies - BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering - that covers all aspects of the geospatial industry including fundamentals of surveying, civil engineering, structural Design, 2D & 3D CAD and Applied Mathematics. It is a day release course set over a 4 year period and funded by The Apprenticeship Levy Scheme which is the latest Government initiative to help reduce the skills shortage and is funded partly by The State and remainder by Greenhatch.
We have paired up with the University of Derby to develop this Apprenticeship as we feel the set-up of the single day academic studies and remainder of the working week involved in active projects will provide a solid foundation to develop the individuals.
There are 2 positions available each academic year, and the successful candidates are to be aged between 18-20 years old. Two trainee surveyors have already been recruited for the academic year commencing September 2022, and we are now open to candidates wishing to apply for the scheme commencing September 2023.
Minimum academic qualifications required:
UCAS points

Specific requirements at A-level
At least a C in either Maths, Physics, Science or another related subject at A-level (or equivalent qualification)
Specific requirements at GCSE

The apprenticeship runs alongside Greenhatch’s Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) Approved Development Scheme, which is an internal training programme to review other aspects of surveying and analyse new technologies.
Salaries for first year apprentices are between £12,500 to £14,500 but are subject to change. All full time employment benefits include a work place pension, holidays, etc.
Greenhatch are also in discussions with the University of Hertfordshire in setting up a similar scheme, where the apprentices will be based out of our St Albans Office.
